The PARC 2022 Annual Playwrights Retreat - Now Accepting Applications

December 01, 2021

Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre will be hosting the 2022 PARC Playwrights’ Retreat from May 8th - 22nd in Sackville, New Brunswick on the Mount Allison University campus (or remotely as required due to COVID regulations at the scheduled time).

The annual Playwrights’ Retreat, PARC’s flagship program, is a two-week playwrights’ residency open to emerging and established playwrights in Atlantic Canada. At the Retreat, up to ten playwrights from across the Atlantic region and beyond will have an opportunity to further develop a new script. The Retreat offers the most intensive writing opportunity for playwrights in this region. It provides playwrights with the time to write, reflect and develop their work in a supportive and nurturing environment. Writers benefit from the one-on-one assistance of a professional dramaturge and the expertise of a company of professional workshop actors. Accommodation and honorarium provided and travel arranged or assisted.
Playwrights may submit an application for the Retreat with a completed script, a partially completed work in progress, or a detailed synopsis (if playwright’s work is known to PARC).

The playwright must be a playwriting member of PARC, whose membership dues are up to date.

Application must include: a cover letter outlining the play’s previous development (if any, where it is in progress and goals for the colony; a synopsis and character breakdown; full script or sample scenes (if script is not completed); and the playwright’s CV. Send application by e-mail to PARC’s Artistic Director Pamela Halstead at parcdramaturge@playwrightsatlantic.ca.

For more information or questions about the application process go to PARC's website here or contact Pamela Halstead at the email noted above.
The deadline for submissions is: January 15, 2022
Note: All participating playwrights will be required to provide current proof of vaccination if the Retreat is able to be held in person.
