Playwrights Horizons accepts unsolicited manuscripts of full-length, original plays by living American writers. As a writers’ theatre who believes there are as many distinctive styles and voices as there are playwrights, we remain open to as wide a range of plays — and approaches to playwriting — as possible. Evolution is looking for new plays. They're particularly interested in scripts by Ottawa based women writers. There is no restriction on subject matter, historical, political, or contemporary, nor is there any restriction on style of presentation: monologue, storytelling, or a collectively created work. The Theatre Centre: Call for Submissions - New Residency Artists (Toronto, ON)
The Theatre Centre’s Residency Program is a structured two-year program that provides groups/artists with the necessary space, funding, and mentorship to craft ideas still in their infancy into finished works that are provocative, innovative, and ambitious. While the Residency is designed for artists with an established practice of creation, emerging artists who have big ideas and a need for the space to explore them are also welcome to submit. EASTERN FRONT THEATRE - STAGES FESTIVAL:
Eastern Front Theatre is now accepting submissions for its 2020 STAGES Theatre Festival. The Festival will run from May 18-31, 2020 at the Scotiabank Stage. Submissions can be for a reading, workshop or full production. Applications for full productions must come from a Production Company (not an individual) to be considered. In the application, please include: cover letter, overview of the piece (2-3 sentences), full synopsis, developmental history, script (as much as is completed) and log line. BODACIOUS READING SERIES:
Bodacious Reading Series is accepting submissions from female-identifying playwrights. Their play readings and performance events are held in the intimate warm space of the Ann MacDonald Studio of Presentation House Theatre (333 Chesterfield Avenue, North Vancouver, BC) at 7:30pm, once monthly. Theatre One's Emerging Voices is now accepting submissions for the 2018-2019 season. Emerging Voices is a series of staged readings of new Canadian plays by local and regional playwrights. The series allows emerging writers to have their plays workshopped by professional artists in a day long CAEA workshop and performed in a staged reading before an audience, providing valuable feedback in the creative process. PURPLE ROSE (Chelsea, MI):
Purple Rose is dedicated to the development and production of new plays and emerging playwrights. If a synopsis submission shows promise for possible production, a full script will be requested. Each requested script is read by at least two readers, so a waiting period of seven to nine months for a response is not uncommon. For more information go here.

THE NATIONAL ARTS CENTRE: NATIONAL CREATION FUND (Ottawa, Ontario)
The National Creation Fund will invest up to $3 million a year in the development of 15 to 20 compelling and ambitious new Canadian works in theatre, dance and music – works that have strong artistic teams and strong producing partners, and that are likely to have national and international impact.
