Tara L. Taylor, is co-founder and Festival Director for Charles Taylor Theatre & The Emerging Lens Cultural Film Festival and a filmmaker, playwright, actress, multi-media artist and singer. She serves as VP for The Link Performing Arts Society board of directors, board member of Melanated Artist Collective, Bus Stop Theatre, Centre for Art tapes, Screen Nova Scotia and committee member of the Urban Music Advisory Committee under the direction of Music Nova Scotia. Tara has produced; and in some cases, starred in, Dreamgirls, The Color Purple and The Wiz and first original, Viola: The Musical. Her vision for upcoming filmmakers, playwrights and musicians from marginalized communities is to see them continue in the industry professionally and successfully. Tara attended the PARC Playwrights' Colony this May and worked with dramaturge Richie Wilcox on her script Hood Habits, a hip hop musical.
