PARC ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF KITCHEN TABLE READINGS

November 01, 2016

PARC ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF KITCHEN TABLE READINGS

PARC is introducing a new – or renewed - program this year under the heading: Nova Scotia First Readings Program. The progran, funded by Arts Nova Scotia this year, has two components:

Component One:

The Kitchen Table Readings Program will offer 5 Nova Scotian playwrights the opportunity to hear a first read of a brand new script - or a brand new draft of a script - right at their own kitchen table. The focus of PARC's traditional Kitchen Table Readings is on that all important first read, where and when the playwright needs it.

Applications to have a Kitchen Table Reading are open to any Nova Scotia playwriting member of PARC wherever you are based, however, priority will be given to established playwrights and to playwrights outside of the Halifax area.

If you are interested in having a Kitchen Table Reading, contact Interim Program Coordinator, Joanne Miller,  at programcoordinator@playwrightsatlantic.ca. Your e-mail application should include a copy of your script, along with some information about your work (a little bit of bio/background on you - as a playwright/theatre practitioner, what draft of the script this is, any particular background or context that would be useful to know about the work).

You will also need to send a $10 submission fee, which can be paid by cheque or money order and mailed to: Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre, PO Box 33038 Quinpool RPO, Halifax, NS B3L 4T6 or by pay pal on our website at:   www.playwrightsatlantic.ca . You can apply for a Kitchen Table Reading at any time between September and May.

Component Two:
The Out of the Kitchen Readings will held in Halifax between November 22nd and 25th and will provide first reads of new scripts – or new drafts of scripts - for PARC member playwrights from anywhere in the Atlantic Region who can find their way to Halifax.  These will not be script development workshops and will not have a public component. They remain first reads only of new scripts for the benefit of the playwright. The readings will be facilitated by a dramaturge and organized by our Interim Program Coordinator and will involve a company of actors.

To apply to be a part of the Out of The Kitchen Readings in Halifax in November, contact Interim Program Coordinator, Joanne Miller, at:__programcoordinator@playwrightsatlantic.ca .

Deadline for applications to the Out of the Kitchen Readings is October 15th, 2016.
