It's 1942 and Gerald is in a bad mood.  All the men are away fighting except him.  They said he's too old.  To make matters worse, he's surrounded by women doing men's work.

During this sketch, the family listen to the 5 o'clock news from Halifax.  everything the Newsreader says actually happened in 1942, eg: a Nova Scotia Province-wide black-out test with some amusing mishaps.

Written in 2013 specifically for the Memory Lane WWII Encampment weekend.  [Feedback from the audience suggested they found the play educational as well as entertaining, so it could be suitable for a school production/teaching tool.]

Performed by the Eastern Shore Players at the Memory Lane Heritage Village WWII Encampment weekend and again at the Bicentennial Theatre, Middle Musquodoboit, the week before Memorial Day, 2013.

This play was performed with "Free A Man For Service At Sea" and "Roll Up Your Sleeves For Victory".  (Also WWII plays.)
